CHAPLAIN'S CORNER 5.31.26

The Kingdom of God Not The Kingdom of Man

Well, what kind of week have you had! Was it a week of great joy or of great
disappointment? The past week that was, was it about your favorite team not winning
another game, or was it because the car wouldn’t start , and you were cutting it close on
time, or the biggest presentation on the biggest deal of your life, or was it because you
thought you had turned the dryer on for the kids school clothes and then you went to
bed and found out the next morning that the dryer door had kicked open……. and you
were running late on top of it?!

We are in a haze of needing factual information on social media, websites of news
outlets, newspapers and more, and not finding it to be trustworthy. There was a very
familiar message though, on many people’s lips, and throughout the Christian world, that
"God is in Control”! For persons of faith that expression is a battle cry!

But that expression, is a starting place, not an expression we find comfort into sooth our
feelings. We, as Christians, become very unsure whether we’re supposed to feel this
strongly about the worldly subject of politics. But then we are reminded that faith in God
was never an easy path, that never precluded pain, sometimes difficulties and passion
for our human beliefs!

The ‘Kingdom of God Not the Kingdom of Man’ starts with some serious soul searching.
God is in control and we may have much to confess in our desire to win or to vote for a
certain candidate or hopefully the platform they represent. We just may have sacrificed
some relationships, ideology and many times, basic decency, in trade for our emotions
and the heat of the hunt. We may have sacrificed and been emotionally torn justifiably,
with many others intelligence and integrity, for the trading of sustained cultural values
and power in very many ways.

There has been a movement in our world that has seen the Christian philosophy and
movement with much possible shallowness and this election has exposed some of us
without many true Christian values. We need to stop the blindness of our allegiance to a
political party and the wrong ideology its platform represents, in our more active
Christian battle, but do it God’s way! We must realize that God is in control and we must
not choose the wrong partisanship and values that are wrong against His Will and Word!
There is strength in our prayer life and the body of Christ, and be assured that God is
always and without a doubt is in control in times of adversity as well as the good.

In the computation of the Bible, we will find all the answers we will ever need to know to
all the questions we could ever have. In the Book of Micah, written around 800 B.C., we
find times that mirrored today between the urban leaders of Jerusalem and Samaria. The
leaders of those times were denounced by Micah and the other prophets for exploiting
their positions of power and privilege to take advantage of the people and go against
God’s Law. In Micah’s day, their society was in deep troubling times, where officials did
and said whatever they were paid to say, instead of what was true, right, and just! They
bankrupted their integrity. But then God put an end to allowing them to go on violating
His Laws and Will.

The questions raised in Micah 6:6-8 regarding the cycle of circumstances on what you
can do to make things just, right, and acceptable in the sight of God, are the same as
they were then, in the three-part summary of justice, mercy and humility found in Micah
6:8.

Our waiting is many times hard, and I know for a fact that waiting is unbelievably
difficult! There are many times when God just wants us to wait on Him. We should
spend time in His Word and in prayer and maybe most of all, finding ways to evangelize
and educate those that need to learn from the lessons of our past until He declares,
"Now is the time”!

I believe that God puts us through times of waiting and educating many as to His Will.
His wisdom is to have us reflect on what we’ve been through and learn from our past
mistakes or circumstances. That is a lesson that waits for many in our society, for many
reasons! Then we can learn not merely the concept of doing right or wrong, but have the
chance to make course corrections that impact our future, which is the right way, which
is through the Laws of the ‘Kingdom of God’!

It is by His Grace we are saved…by His Word we should live…and by His Will we serve
others…!
